Welcome to LTC Testimonials -
From - H. Lorie Clayton, MSG, Retired
Hello Robert;
It was indeed a pleasure to chat with you at AFO
Marriott. Here is a "blurb" that you may use as a testimonial.
My reason for purchasing Long Term Care insurance is twofold:
1. I want to enjoy my hard-earned money for
pleasurable things such as travel, great restaurants, entertainment and
a good life. I do not want what little I have to be used for the
exorbitant LTC costs (should I need LTC).
2. Buying LTC before one needs it, keeps the
cost down. The younger one is - the lower the cost.

Something to think about…Long Term Care for my family
and myself
Almost half of
all Americans who reach the age of 65 will
spend some time in a nursing home due to a prolonged illness or
disability. As
we get older, the risk of needing long-term care is much greater than
most of
us might realize. We may need assistance on a temporary or permanent
basis just
to perform daily activities that today we take for granted.
We may need
long-term care services if we have an accident,
an illness or injury and are not able to perform some of the activities
of
daily living at home. I know that we think we will all live forever.
However,
when a family member or we need care, it might be in the form of living
in an
assisted living facility, an adult day care center, or a hospice. We
might
receive needed care provided in a nursing home, an extended care
facility, or
in our own homes.
For senior family
members, Medicare, instead of reimbursing
hospitals for the actual cost of treating patients pays a set fee. Once
a patient
reaches an arbitrary number of days in the hospital, Medicare payments
stop
regardless of the individual patient's actual condition or the need for
continuing care. When this happens, the hospitals release patients soon
thereafter causing patients to complete their recovery in some type of
nursing
home facility, or, with in home nursing.
For us who are
over 50 years old, should be looking at and
comparing long-term care insurance policies now. It is also important
to apply
for long-term care while we are still healthy. If you do not have a
long-term
care policy when your health situation requires it, no insurance
company will
issue you one. It will be too late. In addition, remember; like many
other
types of insurance the younger you are, when you purchase a policy, the
cheaper
it probably is.
